Ready player 1 is a book about a socially (face-to-face) inept adolescent boy whose life revolves around a virtual simulation in the year 2050, as well as a hunt For the creator's immense fortune in this giant MMORPG-esque simulation known as the OASIS.
His life is the hunt, but the creator (Halliday) was obsessed with 90's culture. The hunt, therefore, revolves around this culture Halliday grew up in. A "gunter" (the name of the hunters for this vast fortune) must memorize loads of 90's trivia involving movies, songs, and most importantly, video games. The creator has an almanac, and Wade (the aforementioned boy), treats it as his holy grail. After 5 years of no gunter making any progress, Wade is the first. What ensues is a hunt with higher stakes than would be imagined for a video game contest. His life or death.

If I could be friends with two celebrities, they would be Toby Mac, and Brandon Mull. I want to emphasize I do not idolize either of these figures, but I am a fan of both of there artistic works.
I would be friends with Toby Mac because he makes the best music I have heard, and he seems like a really nice guy. I think it would be fun having a conversation with him and learning about his views, as well as learning more about some of his songs. I would want to be friends with Brandon Mull because he is one of my favorite authors, and it would be very helpful to learn from him writing-wise. Thank you for reading this blog about celebrities I would love to be friends with. Between the movie, The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, and the book Night, there are plenty of similarities and differences. An example of similarities is they occur in the same time period (W.W.2), and both of there focus of Nazi Germany is on the camps. But, a major difference is one story is fictional, and the other true, making Night a more terrifying and horrendous story. Another difference is one focuses on someone connected to the Nazi government, and the other is a prisoner at a concentration camp, providing different views on the same events. Another difference involving views is that the movie is through the eyes of a child, a sadly naive one at that, while the other is through the eyes of a young adult that had no one sugar-coating the situation. Personally- I think that although they occur at the same time period, they have huge differences that define them differently- and making them seemingly polar opposites.
In this paragraph, I must analyze a character from either the book or the movie. I chose Gretel, as I think her character is the most interesting. She has blond hair and a rounder face- exhibiting her youth- reflective of her age (which is 12). Her demeanor and character traits fluctuate throughout the movie, but generally portray a selfish adolescent girl that views her brother as a burdensome nuisance. She is also extremely self focused, and trying to be what the people around her expect, and in doing so, buy into the Nazi propaganda heavily, at least, for most of the movie. Although she usually is a jerk to her brother- she does display kindness at meaningful moments- but only when it seems she has empathy for his emotions and what he is going through, although I think that is only because she is probably feeling similar things. An example of this is when she comforts him when there parents are arguing- it would make sense that she would feel the same way that he does about the situation. My thoughts on the Holocaust have not changed at all. I preferred the book over the movie because the book was a true story that gave clear insight on what happened to people in the camps emotionally- and paints a clearer picture of the horror that the camps were the epitome of. My final thoughts on this topic is that I recommend anyone reading this to read the book, The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, as well as Night. Both are good books that are worth reading. Thank you for your time reading this. Please comment with your thoughts down below. 1. Contrasts and Contradictions
Pg# 82 You learn the sick left behind in the evacuation were liberated normally, with none of them dying, unexpected, as the SS were notorious for killing sick Jews. I have absolutely NO IDEA why they did this. Probably they didn't want to waste ammo. 2. Again and again Pg# 100-102 people are repeatedly throwing food into the train cars, and watching the escalating fight for whatever crumbs they were. These pages chronicle the death that happened again and again from the peoples lack of what they need. I think the author brought up multiple examples to convey the result of what the people would do whenever any bread or other crumbs were thrown in the cattle cars. 3. Words of The Wiser Pg# 110-111 In this section the Blockalteste tells Eliezer to give up on his sick and dying father (taking his rations to confirm his own survival, as he sees there is nothing more that can be done for Father) and telling Eliezer "Each of us lives and dies alone." It affected the character by having him subconsciously agree, feeling guilty, and then helping his father more. If I was president, the following are what I would try to do and achieve. These are my top three priority's, how I would execute it, and why.
The first thing I would try to do is unite the country. If the country is not united, how can anything get done? Also, an extremely divided country is not politically sound. Now, when I say united, I DO NOT mean literally every single person in the country agreeing. That is impossible. But I do mean the vast majority being together and agreeing to try to make this country better, and not stagnating, (as it has been) with little to no growth. After the first thing was accomplished, then I would move on to two interconnected issues that should remedied. I would try to crack down on corporations violation of human rights, making punishments more severe, and include the working conditions they use in other country's, even if they aren't based here. I would still put a severe fine with possibility of imprisonment on company's and owners. I would also place more limiting requirements on manufacturing processes, that would make the practices more environmentally helpful, and not damage the ecosystem. By doing this I would be aiding the nations' responsibility to protect the environment, which most country's seem to be lacking in. Also connected with the human rights aspects, I would grow the branch that hunts down human traffickers and saves trafficked humans in the US, trying to eradicate trafficking in the US entirely. With all three of these things I would increase the political pressure on allying country's to do similar things and take similar action. The final thing I would try to accomplish would be to get rid of all the debt our country is in. I don't know how I would achieve this, but I think it is very important for people to stay out of debt, and by extension, the government. The reason why I say this is because if you are in debt, the debtors have a certain level of control over you, and our government should not have that, be it to corporations, or other country's. These have been three things I would prioritize as US president. Thank you for reading. This blog is about my winter break. It was an enjoyable time, filled with family, good food, and presents. The first thing you may be asking is what I got as these "presents". Some board games, puzzles, and books. And candy. A LOT of candy. Anytime I make a resolution to consume less of the addictive substance, I am awash in it again. But enough about that. I traveled, A LOT. The drive time overall that happened my Christmas weekend bordered on four to five hours. Personally, I think that is too much. But, I met up with family I rarely see in all of the various locations, so it was worth it.
I also played a lot of video games, especielly since the new expansion for Destiny, The Dawning was released. I read a lot, mostly Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, books I would recommend to anybody. Finally I slept, becuase what is a break without rest? How was your winter break? The following is an analization of the article from this link: http://www.today.com/parents/8-life-skills-all-18-year-olds-should-have-checklist-t68666 I recommend reading this article for full comprehension of the following post. My overall thoughts were that the stated points were correct, and that the only thing I would disagree with is the generalazations presented and that 18 year olds need to know there way around. I assume that part of learning to drive would be knowing when to refuel. As far as pathways, most 18 year olds will have smart phones that would give them a direct path. If not that, in school, you learn how to read a map, so just pick up a map of whatever area you are traversing. Everying else I agree with , many 18 year olds lack as skills the listed subjects. I think children of young ages should read things like this more often, so they can prioritize on developing necessary skills early, where they may be lacking. This weeks prompt was, if you could live in a video game, what would it be? Now, I have played many genres of games in my lifetime- and also played across many worlds. After much thought, I decided on Pokemon. For those of you that didn't slam your screens down in disgust, the following are my reasons why.
If I lived in another world, I would want to live in one that would have as much or more enjoyment as playing the game. That eliminates all shooter games, becuase living in them would be a truamatic expierience, not to mention dying over and over is not my first choice of how to spend my life. So the things I was looking for was enjoyment, survivability, and the final point was adventure. The ability to stay in the world without growing bored and doing the same activity over and over. I then thought about all my favorite games. The death issue came up in Zelda, as well as No Man's Sky (It's not that bad). Then I thought about my favorite app games, games like Clash Royale, Clash of Clans, and other strategy games, including World Domination, etc. The issue with strategy games is I was unsure if you would be the commander of the armies, or a soldier in the army, and, I assume if you lose the death issue (even as a commander) probably comes up again. Then I thought about Pokemon. In a world where everyone can basically do the same job as the pro-athletes of that world, it seems enjoyable. Survivability is also not an issue, becuase your pokemon are the ones in danger, and in the games they never actually die while your playing. Adventure is also solved becuase throughout all the pokemon games there are seven different regions to explore, over sixty gym leaders to battle, and over 800 pokemon to catch and train. When looking at this plethora of evidence, it is apparent for me that Pokemon is the best choice of a video game to live in. if you wish to share down below your opinion on what video game to live in, it would be great to read your thoughts. Thanksgiving is here (actually, Its over)! But, it's apparent the purpose of this blog post prompt is too express feelings of thanks, as is due this season. The first thing I am thankful for is my family. They have been there to suppourt me and help me, no matter what I go through. I am especially thankful for my more distant family, and the effort they have given in trying to make me feel welcome at family gatherings, even if I only see them every two years or so. I am thankful for the numerous material blessings I have been given, from delightful vittles, to the books on my shelf. I am thankful for my friends, and their imagination and steadfastness. I am thankful for the freedoms we have, for, perhaps they should be a guarantee to all, but are definetly not. I am thankful for the oppurtunities I have been given, as well as my life for that matter. I am so thankful, that God was willing to create me, and keep me living for this long, for I know that God is in control of my every breath. I am thankful for my religion, Christianty, and my ability to have a relationship with my creator and savior through Jesus Christ's dying for all of humanity.
When I truly try to be thatnkful, and look at all the positives it is astounding how much I find. In stark contrast, how much I find when looking at things negatively are tenfold more so though, in light of so many things to be thankful for. I ask that all my readers (as few as they are) maintain a positive attitude, going into Christmas, and the months after, as we all truly have much to be thankful for. |
